Regus is asking British businesses and local people to donate their unwanted tech to help those in need.

The international workspace provider has teamed up with technological social enterprise SocialBox.biz to collect people’s unused tech and give it a second life.

Useful items include unneeded laptops, old mobile phones, IT equipment (like servers and consoles) and second-hand clothing that could be worn to job interviews.

Regus has set up donation points at its workspaces in London and around the UK, where donors can drop off their unwanted devices. SocialBox.biz then hands out the items to people living in homeless shelters, low-income senior housing and other charities that support vulnerable people in Britain.

SocialBox also works with these charities to teach people how to use software to perform typical office tasks – such as creating documents, sending email and using the internet.

The aim is not just to help people to find long-term careers, but also to give them more general digital skills that can help them keep in touch with relatives and friends, shop online and follow the latest news.

Richard Morris, UK CEO of Regus, says: “We are incredibly excited to be partnering with SocialBox.biz to support this cause. As a workspace provider driven by tech, we know how integral digital skills are to the way that people live and work.

“Instead of putting their old mobile phone at the back of a drawer, never to be seen again, we are asking anyone using a Regus centre in London, or living nearby to one, to make a difference by donating this unwanted tech. In doing so, you will be helping even more people to learn essential new skills.”

If you are based in London and would like to make a donation, please get in touch with your nearest Regus centre
