Regus brings flexible work spaces to the Caribbean

The Caribbean may be known as an exclusive holiday destination, but the region is increasingly building its reputation as a prosperous business hub. And with two new flexible office spaces from Regus in the area, these sun-soaked islands are opening up to a much wider range of global businesses.

The new centres in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, and Welches, Barbados, will provide creative workspaces, co-working, meeting rooms, Businessworld, virtual office services and workplace recovery to local and international businesses alike.

Diversity and innovation

The World Bank recently announced that financial growth is returning to the Caribbean. The region’s economies are beginning to break the boom-and-bust cycle of spending, while new fiscal policies are introducing new initiatives – and plenty of companies are already taking note.

Regus’ new home at Invader’s Bay Tower is also known as the BHP Billiton building, thanks to the mining giant’s large presence there, including their accounts department (which recently relocated from Texas).

Tech providers are also taking an interest in the island nations, with Amazon Web Services reportedly exploring taking its cloud services to Trinidad and Tobago – a move that would fly in the face of historic concerns over slow innovation takeup in the region.

Impressive facilities

As well as boasting astounding natural beauty, both Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados have plenty going for international travellers and expanding businesses.

Sun-seekers can enjoy everything the tourism industry has to offer, knowing that they have guaranteed access to professional work spaces when they need them. That means being able to check in with work, complete essential tasks and grab new opportunities. Tenants will also benefit from beautiful views, a gym, restaurants, bars and nearby shopping, encouraging a healthy work-life balance.

Forward-thinking businesses with a green mentality will be pleased to hear about the credentials of our new spaces. Trinidad & Tobago boasts the cheapest energy costs in the region, and both nations are busy working on renewable energy initiatives. In fact, One Welches uses solar power and offers charging points for electric cars, ensuring the stunning environment stays that way.

Building for the future

Looking ahead, we expect these new flexible facilities to be the bedrock of a growing business community in both areas. Plans to boost foreign exchange earnings may well see similar office space expand to Jamaica, Guyana, and St Lucia; and with the rise of the travelling entrepreneur, there’ll be plenty more mobile workers arriving to enjoy the region.

Regus, One Welches, Barbados opened in June 2016, and Regus, Invader’s Bay, Trinidad & Tobago was opened in March 2017.
