Global Workspace Survey 2020: have your say on how the workplace is changing

Regus is asking for your opinions on flexible working for its worldwide survey on the world of work.

At the dawn of the 2020s, companies all over the world are looking ahead and anticipating what lies in store. How will technology accelerate the pace of change? How hard will the probable 2020 recession hit this time? What new industries, job roles, and possibilities will emerge over the next 10 years?

With all this in mind, Regus wants to know what business-owners and professionals believe lies ahead for the world of work, and is seeking participants for the Global Workspace Survey 2020

As well as having their experience represented in one of the world’s largest bodies of research of this kind – featuring more than 15,000 professionals in more than 100 countries – those who complete the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a GoPro camera.

While the research will present predictions for the future, Regus also wants to explore how flexible working is currently being used by businesses – and what’s driving them to adopt this new way of working. This year’s edition of the survey – now in its 12th year – will analyse the opinions of the international business community to reveal key flexible workspace trends for 2020, and describe the benefits and barriers companies are experiencing with flexible working in 2020.

The 2019 Global Workspace Survey identified some eye-opening trends, particularly in how flexible working is placing more control in the hands of employees. The results showed a definite power-shift towards employees, who now have more say than ever before over how and where they work.

According to the 2019 survey, businesses who understood the importance of offering flexibility to their staff were experiencing positive results. These respondents reported greater staff retention, greater agility and improved employee productivity compared to companies who did not have a flexible working culture. For example, 85% of survey respondents confirmed that productivity had increased in their company thanks to increased flexibility in employee working patterns, and 65% believed businesses that adapt the working environment to suit employees’ job roles are more productive.

The findings strongly suggested that flexible working is no longer a perk but a must-have for modern businesses. More than four out of five respondents confirmed that, when faced with two similar employment offers, they would turn down the one that didn’t offer flexible working. And 65% of businesses said that flexible working helped them reduce capital and operating expenditure, manage risk and consolidate their portfolio.
