The unusual Petaluma Marina Center offers beautiful views of the Petaluma River and nearby foothills. Sailing vessels can be spotted through every second-floor office window as well as motorised traffic. A major hotel is on-site at the marina. Scenic Shollenberger Park is nearby too. Downtown Petaluma is a short drive away on the other side of the river. Once known as the ‘Egg Capital of the World’, grain milling and chicken processing industries continue in Petaluma, but only as a small part of its still strong agricultural industry. A sprinkling of telecom businesses is a reminder of the city’s 1990s boom in start-up companies in that industry. San Francisco is just 32 miles away using Highway 101.
