About this center
This centre is close to the centre of Luton in a four-storey self-contained building with an impressive glass entrance. The proximity of Luton Airport and the M1 gives easy access to central London, the Midlands and a number of international destinations. Luton has always been primarily an industrial town, famous for producing hats, cars, aircraft components and ball-bearings. While manufacturing still dominates the local economy, employing almost 20 per cent of the workforce and there is still a focus on light industry in the town, this percentage is decreasing in line with national trends. Meanwhile other industries, particularly in the technology and knowledge sectors, are growing. Luton has a growing portfolio of leading international organisations establishing themselves in the area as it moves towards a service-based economy mainly in the retail and the airport sectors, with an emerging culture of research and design, testing and engineering and pharmaceuticals.
